German toilets
In a restaurant tonight, I came across one of the German toilets that Zizek describes in his rant on toilets and ideology. The ones in my office building and apartment has another interesting element. First, they are all dual flush. But more interestingly, there is no way to access and fix the toilets, unlike in America. The back of them is just part of the wall. Americans seem to make toilets on the assumption they will break down enough that there should be easy enough access when they need fixing , while the Germans seem confident in their engineering or really want to hide the inner workings of things. I wonder what Zizek would say about the ideology already present here...?
